AYL Lacrosse


The Arapahoe Youth League is the Premier Youth Sports Organization in the central region of Colorado and has offered competitive league play in multiple sports for over 40 years. We focus on all levels of ability from grades K-8th. 

We will have the same level of competition that you have always experienced and will focus on each of the individual communities to grow the game of lacrosse. We will be working with each of your club delegates over the next few weeks to finalize our schedule.

Returning Officials Training

We will be running the officials training on March 3 from 8:30-10am. (Check starts at 8) 

To officiate youth games for the Spring 2019 season, all returning officials will be required to be US Lacrosse certified.

*This course is for officials entering their second season and beyond.

Recertification involves three steps:

Steps to become an AYL Official: 

Step 1: Check / renew your USL membership as an official at www.USLacrosse.org

 
Step 2: Attend session on Sunday, March 3rd at DU (Sturm Hall, room 251) from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. Check in begins at 8:00.

  •  Registration will open for this session:
    • Cost: $25 (This amount will be refunded to you after you work your first AYL Game) 
    • This session will include a review of all new and pertinent rules as well as field mechanics.

NEW Lacrosse Referee Certification

(Highschool Students and Above) 


Training on March 3, 2019

In order to officiate youth games for the Spring 2019 season,
all officials will be required to be US Lacrosse certified.

Items to complete and bring to the training:

  • Join US Lacrosse as an OFFICIAL (You can also include being a player.)
  • Complete the Online training course (see directions above) and bring your copy of the completion certificate.
    • Pay $45 for the training course online HERE ($35 Refunded after 1st game worked) (link will be live on 2/1/19)
    • Printouts or screenshot of your completed online training
    • Remember your rulebooks 
    • Pen/Pencil
    • Something to take notes on, for officiating
    • Bring something to eat and drink

 

WHEN:

Sunday 3/3/19 – 10:00 am to 4:30 pm

Detailed Certification Process

 

Step 1: Register and pay $45 online for the March 3rd referee training session ($35 which is refunded after your first game worked for AYL).

  Step 2: Complete US Lacrosse on-line training PRIOR to attending classroom session.

  • Join US Lacrosse as an 'official' at http://www.uslacrosse.org (Click on the 'JOIN' tab in the upper right hand corner of the page)

  • If you are already a member of US Lacrosse as a player you can call their membership service department and add officiating to your membership. 

  • PRIOR TO ATTENDING CLASSROOM SESSION, complete US Lacrosse on-line training.
    • Under the officials tab, select online courses. At this point you may be asked to log in to your US Lacrosse membership
    • Click on the Catalog button in the middle of the page
    • Under Catalog, select the 'Officiating Courses' tab.
    • Select Option 1: 'Men's Game Officiating Courses'
    • Select Option 1 under 'Men's Game Officiating Courses': 'Men's Officials - Rules Certification Online Course'
    • Click on: '2019 Boys' Lacrosse Rules Online Course'
    • Add the course to your cart, and proceed to checkout (this course is free with US Lacrosse membership)
    • After you have completed the course purchase, go into your courses and click 'Launch'
    • Complete course in order to receive your certificate.

 

  • Please print off your certificate of completion and bring it with you to the classroom session

 

Step 3: Attend Training Session on March 3rd at DU Sturm Hall, room 251 from 10:00am to 4:30pm - Check in begins at 9:30am

  • This session will include a review of all pertinent rules, field mechanics and taking the US Lacrosse test.

 

Step 4Complete the 2019 Boys Youth Rule Test and High School Test:

 

  • PRIOR TO ATTENDING CLASS SESSION, complete 2019 Boys Youth Rule Test and High School Rule Test
    • Under the officials tab, select Rules Exams. At this point you may be asked to log in to your US Lacrosse membership
    • Click on the red 'Access Exams' button on the page.
    • Click on the 'Catalog' button
    • Select option: "Officiating Courses'
    • Select Option 3: 'Annual Officiating Rules Exams'
    • Add the '2019 NFHS Boys' Lacrosse Rules Exam' to your cart. (blue shopping cart button on the right hand side)
    • Add the '2019 Youth Boys' Lacrosse Rules Exam' to your cart. (blue shopping cart button on the right hand side)
    • Reminder that both of these courses are free as a US Lacrosse member. Proceed to checkout and confirm purchase.
    • After you have completed the course purchase, click on the start browsing button and you will return to 'My Courses'
    • Click on launch next to each test and complete the tests. (it is suggested to complete the test on paper and go back in to fill the answers online after)

 

  • Please print off your results that show you have completed the test.

 

Step 5:  New officials who have never worked a game must shadow experienced officials for two games.  More information during the classroom session. 

  • This Certification will be directed by a US Lacrosse certified trainer, and will include several RMLOA experienced training officials

AYL now has mandatory concussion training for all coaches!
It is now mandatory that all coaches that coach in the AYL must take the NFHS Concussion Class.  For more info click on Senate Bill 40 click the menu button to the left or to take the certification class now click here.
